DRS816 Direction Reservation Switch

Description

The DRS816 Direction Reservation Switch, or the Route Switcher, is intended to switch-over the E1/T1 streams between two (main and standby) directions.

DRS816 serve to enable the bypass mode excluding any failed equipment or to connect a standby system instead of main system in the event that the software fails, the power is lost, the equipment is preventively maintained without a large number of channels being manually switched over at the main distribution frame (MDF).

Depending on the connection scheme and the operation algorithm selected, the following may be provided by the device:

  • Switch-over of incoming direction transmission/reception circuits to selected outgoing direction in manual and automatic modes;
  • Bypass of any failed system that controls one of directions;
  • Redundancy of systems that foresee a routing.

The device is capable to perform a switchover of channels with the control being made both manually from the front panel or the terminal equipped with the RS232 interface and automatically in response to absence of the terminal’s signal acknowledging an operability of main system during a period of time that is set beforehand.

The device is capable to operate simultaneously with one incoming and two outgoing directions having each up to 16 E1/T1 streams.

The DRS816 contains 16 switching sets that are divided into A and B bars (with 8 sets per each bar). All groups are making a switchover at the same time.
